About Grace Upon Grace Biblical Counseling in Oklahoma City

Our Christ-Centered Counseling Approach

At Grace Upon Grace, our counseling is grounded in God’s Word and shaped by the belief that true healing comes through Christ.

We offer soul care, not symptom management, through a relational and grace-filled model that honors both Scripture and the stories of those we serve.

At Grace Upon Grace, Our Mission

is to WALK ALONGSIDE individuals with COMPASSION, biblical counseling that points them to the abundant GRACE and TRUTH found in Christ.

We aim to help people understand THEIR STORY in light of GOD'S REDEMPTIVE STORY equipping them to experience true healing, lasting change, and deeper relationship with God and others.

Our Six Biblical Counseling Convictions

At Grace Upon Grace, our approach is shaped by six core convictions that guide how we counsel, support, and walk alongside those we serve. These convictions reflect a biblical view of people, pain, and healing; and remind us that every story matters to God.

Gospel-Centered

Wise counseling centers on Jesus Christ and His transforming grace. We offer true hope and lasting change through a personal relationship with Him, not through programs, theories, or self-help.

Church History-Informed

We draw from 2,000 years of the Church’s wisdom in applying gospel truth to real-life struggles. Biblical counseling is most compassionate and wise when rooted in the historic tradition of soul care.

Theology-Saturated

Biblical counseling is practical theology in action. We connect human struggles to God’s greater story of redemption and apply Scripture with wisdom, compassion, and relevance.

Research-Aware

While Scripture is our ultimate authority, we recognize that research-viewed through a biblical lens—can offer helpful, secondary insights into the complexities of life in a broken world.

Relationship-Focused

God designed us for deep, loving connection with Him and with one another. Counseling must reflect Christlike care, embodying truth in love through authentic, grace-filled relationships.

Whole-Person Oriented

We care for whole persons: body and soul. Biblical counseling addresses both spiritual and physical realities, applying God’s Word with discernment and care for the full person.

How Will These Convictions Shape Your Counseling Experience?

At Grace Upon Grace, our convictions aren’t just ideas. We let them shape every conversation, every prayer, and every moment in session.

From the first meeting to the final breakthrough, you'll experience counseling that is deeply relational, richly biblical, and thoughtfully guided by the grace of Christ.

Our Theological Approach to Soul Care

At Grace Upon Grace, our approach to counseling is grounded in the Gospel and shaped by the conviction that God’s Word speaks powerfully and personally to every area of life. We are aligned with the mission of the Association of Biblical Counselors (ABC), which exists to enlist, equip, enrich, and encourage believers to live and counsel the Word. This partnership affirms our commitment to:

• Rooted in Scripture:

I believe the Bible is fully sufficient and authoritative for understanding people, their problems, and the path to lasting change.

• Centered on the Gospel:

True peace and transformation come only through the finished work of Jesus Christ—His death and resurrection. The cross is central to everything I do.

• Counsel for the Whole Person:

People are embodied souls—created by God, affected by sin, and in need of both grace and truth. Biblical counseling speaks to spiritual, emotional, and even physical realities through the lens of Scripture.

• Grace is the Engine of Change:

Real change is not behavior modification—it’s heart transformation by God’s grace, through the power of the Holy Spirit.

• Sanctification is the Goal:

For believers, the goal of counseling is not just feeling better—it’s becoming more like Jesus. Change that isn't Christ-centered falls short.

• Depravity, Not Just Deprivation:

Human struggles aren’t merely due to external wounds or unmet needs. They flow from the heart, which is actively shaped by sin and in need of God’s transforming grace.

• God is Always Present:

Every person lives moment by moment in the presence of God. Suffering is never random—it’s used by God for His good purposes in our lives.

• Love Shapes Every Session:

I aim to counsel with the kindness, gentleness, humility, and patience of Jesus. Even hard truths are spoken in love, with a shepherd’s heart.

• Identity in Christ Matters:

I help counselees understand who they are in Christ—loved, secure, forgiven, and being made new. Our identity shapes how we live.

• Evangelism for Non-Believers:

If someone does not know Christ, the most loving thing I can do is introduce them to the hope and peace found in Him.

• Not Psychology + Bible:

I don’t blend Scripture with secular psychology. God’s wisdom is categorically different from the world’s—and it’s sufficient.

• Prayer-Dependent & Church-Connected:

I rely on God through prayer and submit my counseling under the leadership of the local church, often working alongside pastors when appropriate.

• Christ-Centered, Not Self-Centered:

I don’t aim to boost self-esteem, but to help people die to self and live in joyful dependence on Christ.

• Clarity on Sin & Grace:

I use biblical terms for sin, not clinical labels alone. But I always stress God’s grace and the call to repentant, hope-filled living—not shame-based performance.

• Joy is Possible:

Even in hardship, joy can flourish when we live in reverent awe of God and walk in His truth.

Layered Rock Pattern

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as we share abundantly in Christ's sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too."
2 Corinthians 1:3-5, ESV
